What It Costs

Local moves start around $349, which covers delivery, pickup, and 30 days of storage. Long-distance pricing depends on mileage, but expect to pay 20–40% less than hiring full-service movers for the same route. You dodge the hourly labor charges entirely since you’re doing the loading yourself. Worth noting: they also sell moving supply kits and can connect you with loading help through partner services if your back isn’t up for the job.

Who PODS Works Best For

If you’re staging a home for sale and need your stuff out but haven’t found your next place yet, PODS is hard to beat. Same goes for renovation limbo or any situation where your move-out and move-in dates don’t line up. The flexibility is the whole point.

The downside is that you’re still doing the physical labor of packing and loading. For people who want a hands-off experience, a traditional full-service mover is a better fit.
